Alan Ripa Web Art Gallery / "Treble Clef" 48" X 60"
The name of this work is Treble Clef and it is just that. In music notation, the top line of a staff where notes are written on manuscript paper is called the Treble Clef. This started out to be Alan's third painting, however, he was not satisfied with the outcome as a painting. So he decided to use micro mosaic ceramic tiles to go over the top of what he had painted. It was a painstaking process that took 3 months to complete. Many of the tiles had to be ground down by hand to fit the design.
