Alan Ripa Web Art Gallery / "The Conductor" 48" X 60"

This painting is very contemporary in the approach and design. Completion was in early 2004. Very simple and "clean" in design. Taking a musical notation value of an "eighth" note and extending the upper stem to create the arms, Alan has the image of a conductor emerging out of this eighth note with the baton in the air as to be over seeing the orchestra. The center of the note contains an eye...an eye of a cat. A "cat" is what a musician is sometimes referred to or called. So the sequence is as follows: The musician or "cat" is emerging from the inside of the "eighth note" that then transforms into a conductor who is leading an orchestra.
